Essex Music Links

Mickey Jupp and Procol Harum from Southend were Rockers from an earlier generation. They have both had fairly successful careers releasing a whole number of album. In the case of Mickey Jupp his songs have been covered by many other artists, Dr Feelgood and The Judds have had chart success with his songs.

Billy Bragg Essex Music Singer and songwriter, folk, punk-rocker, remembered the time his father let him drive his green Morris Oxford slowly across the field that was a car park behind Shoeburyness beach. He turned this thought into a song about the road the A 13. Dr Feelgood took the Thames Delta sound all over the world and helped give birth to Punk and were listed to by influential New York Bands like The Ramones, Television, The New York Dolls and Blondie. Depeche Mode, Blur and The Prodigy have had commercial success in recent times. Koopa have recently had a measure of success. Essex is always turning out innovative and exciting bands who are a match for any other around at the time. Some Bands, Photographers and Publications will be visiting The Brighton Fringe Festival in 2008 to celebrate this.
